Our Pastor &  First Lady

 

Rev. Hugh M. Johnson, Sr. is the son of the late Mr. Isaac & Mrs. Julia Washington Johnson.  He was born and raised in Claiborne County Mississippi.  He is married to Barbara A. Wilson Johnson.  The Lord has blessed them with four children and four grandchildren all living in the state of Maryland.

 

He was licensed to preach The Gospel on December 4, 1981, by the late Pervis McKenney.  Rev. Johnson graduated in 1986 after four years from The Washington Baptist Theological Seminary, The D. C. Bible Institute, and many other religious places of training.

While living on the East Coast he was the pastor of two churches, Olive Branch M.B. Church in Haymarket, Virginia and Sylvan Vista M.B. Church, Fairmount Heights, MD.  

 

Rev. Johnson is now serving as pastor of Magnolia M.B. Church & Mount Zion M.B. in Port Gibson, MS.  He also serves as President of The Claiborne County Ministerial Alliance, Board member on AJFC Early Childhood Development, and was a member of the Claiborne County Hospital Board in Port Gibson, MS.

Pastor Johnson is very passionate about the church's relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  He takes to heart the scripture that tells us to study God's word.  He also reminds us that we love God as much as we love his word and we obey God as much as we obey his word.  The spiritual and financial growth is important to Rev. Johnson so he encourages us to trust in the Lord, work together, pray together and love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.  We are proud to have Rev. and Sis. Johnson as our Pastor and First Lady here at Magnolia M.B. Church.  Sis Johnson is truly a blessing to our pastor and this church and also Mt. Zion M.B. Church.  We thank God for her.
